Cheshire High School softball (6-3; 3-1 in Housatonic Division), using a 10-run first inning, won 13-0 on Friday at Lyman Hall (2-6; 0-4). Sophomore Casey Harding supplied three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Junior Bryanna McIntosh (run scored) brought in three runs with a triple. Senior Kierstyn Bourdeau and junior Alexa DiLeo (three RBIs, run scored) had two hits.
CHS collected two runs each from seniors Lauren Fountain (two walks, single) and Erin Donnarumma, along with sophomore Maggie O'Reilly. Senior Kathryn Vitale (walk) joined sophomores Sara Como (hit by pitch) and Olivia Odermatt (walk) with a hit, RBI, and run scored.
Sisters Nicole and Tori D'Amato shared the shutout. A senior pitching five innings, Nicole D'Amato (two hits, three walks) struck out six. Tori D'Amato pitched the last two innings, striking out three in her varsity debut. She allowed a hit.
The Lady Rams visit Sacred Heart Academy on Monday at 4 p.m. SHA won 5-3 on Tuesday at CHS.
Baseball (3-5; 1-3)
CHS pounded out 17 hits during a 14-2 win against Lyman Hall (0-9; 0-4). Senior Christian Colp (2-1) pitched six innings in which he struck out two and gave up one earned run. Colp allowed five hits, a walk, and hit by pitch. He struck out two. In the seventh, junior Kyle Waldron fanned the three hitters he faced.
The Rams broke a 2-2 by plating four runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. Senior Kyle Hodgdon went 3-4 with two RBIs. Junior Dan Schock joined Hodgdon with three hits and two runs scored, adding an RBI. Schock came within a home run of batting for the cycle.
Cheshire also received three hits, a career-high, from senior Kevin Mirando. Mirando scored and drew a walk. Sophomore Cooper Mrowka walked twice and produced two hits, scoring once. Along with recording two hits and a run scored, freshman Tommy Savino turned three double plays.
Sophomore Ryan Pierpont contributed a hit and two runs scored. Juniors Alex Augusto and Ethan Lonardelli combined to score three times, each producing two RBIs and a hit.
Cheshire hosts East Haven (4-2) on Monday at 4 p.m.
Boys' Tennis (3-4)
Cheshire defeated West Haven 4-3 for their third straight win. In singles, junior Jeremy Reichentahl (6-0, 6-0) and sophomore David Light were victorious. Sophomores Jackson Ajello and Abdullah Choudhry (6-2, 6-2) and seniors Blake Wetmore and Andrew Carroll (6-2, 6-3) also won in straight sets.
The Rams host East Haven (2-5) on Monday at 4 p.m.
Boys' Volleyball (5-1)
At Daniel Hand (2-5), CHS swept 3-0 for their third straight win.
Cheshire visits defending Class M Championship Newington (6-1) on Monday at 6 p.m.
