A complete game from junior Ethan Lonardelli helped Cheshire High School baseball (2-5; 0-3 in Housatonic Division) end a three-game skid 13-2 against host Fairfield Prep (6-2). At Fairfield University, Lonardelli struck out five and allowed hits. Both of Fairfield Prep's runs were unearned.
Senior Kyle Hodgdon finished four for five with four runs and three RBIs, all career-bests. Junior Dan Schock (two runs) supplied three hits. Cheshire also received two hits and an RBI from junior Alex Augusto, sophomore Ryan Pierpont, and freshman Tommy Savino had two hits and an RBI.
Cheshire hosts Lyman Hall (0-8; 0-3) on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
Softball (5-3; 2-1)
Senior catcher Kierstyn Bourdeau singled five times, adding four RBIs in a 13-2 win over Shelton (2-5; 1-2). Sophomores Maggie O’Reilly (career-high three RBIs) and Olivia Odermatt added two hits and runs scored. Classmate Sara Como also contributed two hits and scored once.
Senior Nicole D’Amato struck out six in three innings, surrendering a hit and no runs. Sophomore MacKenzie Juodaitis fired five strikeouts. She gave up six hits and walked a batter.
The Lady Rams visit Lyman Hall (2-5; 0-3) on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
Girls' Lacrosse (5-1)
CHS used hat tricks from senior Alison Hoynes and junior Danielle Chambrelli in earning their fourth straight win 19-3 over Shelton (0-4). The goal total was a career-high for Chambrelli. Senior Christy Myjak and junior Emma Farrel each contributed two goals and three assists before halftime during which the Lady Rams led 15-2.
Senior Kathleen Kalbian (two assists), junior Maddy Levy, and sophomore Emma Gaudio all scored twice. Juniors Emma Wyckoff (goal) and Danielle Bellantonio (assist), along with sophomore Caroline Hague (goal), joined Gaudio with their first varsity points.
Juniors Olivia Larson (goal) and Michelle Federico assisted goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Sierra Ubertalli compiled eight saves (career-high).
Cheshire visits Hamden on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Boys' Lacrosse (2-4)
Cheshire lost 9-6 at unbeaten Xavier (6-0). Sophomore Matt Blois put in five goals (career-best). Junior Matt Rougeot chipped in a goal. Senior Tom Dupont had four assists, a personal-high. Senior John Klemenz and junior Ben Hamel chipped in one each. Junior goalkeeper Jared Lawson supplied 21 saves.
The Rams host Guilford (6-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Girls' Tennis (4-3)
CHS lost 7-0 against defending Southern Connecticut Conference Champion Daniel Hand (6-1).
The girls visit Joseph Foran (3-3) on Monday at 3:45 p.m.
