CHS Girls' Outdoor Track And Field Remains Unbeaten

Cheshire High School girls' outdoor track and field improved to 5-0 by beating host Daniel Hand (96-58), Wilbur Cross (100-54), and Sacred Heart Academy (97.5-55.5). Junior Selina Sampieri set a new pole vault record of 10 feet and three inches.
Other field winners were seniors Emily Gomes (shot put; 29 feet), Ariel Greene (discus; 92 feet, two inches), Brittney Gunneson (javelin; 88 feet, eight inches) and junior Katie Cavallaro (high jump; five feet, four inches). Sophomore Natalie Wickenheisser captured the 3,200-meters (12:31.4).
The Lady Rams compete against host Jonathan Law and Hillhouse on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
Boys' Volleyball (4-1)
In their first sweep of the season, Cheshire dropped Maloney to 2-5 overall. Game scores: 25-15, 25-16, 27-25. Senior Ben Gallo and junior Pat Lindner totaled nine blocks, each supplying eight kills. Senior Evan Colechia (two service aces) and junior Ted Li (14 assists) had five kills. Junior Trent Hager also added 14 assists. CHS also received six digs from senior Scott Romano.
Cheshire visits Daniel Hand (2-4) on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Boys' Tennis (2-4)
At Hamden (1-5), CHS earned their second straight win 6-1. Juniors Jeremy Reichentahl (6-1, 6-3) and Nick Anthony (6-2, 6-1) claimed the top singles spots. Sophomore David Light also picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Cheshire also received a doubles sweep from sophomores Jackson Ajello and Abdullah Choudhry (6-1, 6-0), seniors Blake Wetmore and Andrew Carroll (6-0, 6-0), and junior Greg Zovas and sophomore Matt Spadola (6-4, 6-4).
The Rams host West Haven on Friday at 4 p.m.
Baseball (1-5; 0-3 in Housatonic Division)
Cheshire dropped their third straight division game 9-3 at Sheehan (3-4; 3-1). CHS scored three times in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. Sophomore Ryan Pierpont and junior Wes Robertson (two hits) collected RBIs for a double and single, respectively. Freshman Tommy Savino scored Pierpont with a sacrifice fly. Senior Kyle Hodgdon (three hits)
Cheshire led 3-1 the day before, but Sheehan shut them out from there and earned a 9-3 home win. CHS scored their three runs in the second inning. Sophomore Ryan Pierpont hit an RBI double to score junior Ethan Lonardelli. Senior Kyle Hodgdon (three hits) came home on an RBI single by junior Wes Robertson (two hits). Pierpont scored on a sacrifice fly from freshman Tommy Savino.
Junior Dan Schock pitched into the fifth inning, giving up 10 hits. He walked four and struck out three before being relieved by senior Zach Goul.
CHS travels to Fairfield University on Thursday to play host Fairfield Prep (6-1) at 12 p.m.
Girls' Tennis (4-2)
Cheshire was swept 7-0 by undefeated Amity (6-0)
The Lady Rams host defending Southern Connecticut Conference Champion Daniel Hand (5-1) on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.

Girls' Lacrosse (4-1)
CHS carries a three-game win streak into this game against Shelton (0-3) at 4 p.m.

The Rams visit unbeaten Xavier (5-0) at 4:30 p.m.
