Kalbian Nets Seven Goals At Brookfield, CHS Boys' Tennis Gets First Win

Cheshire High School girls' lacrosse (4-1) posted their third straight win 13-11 at Brookfield (2-2). Brookfield tied the score 11-11 with 5:49 remaining, but senior Kathleen Kalbian (career-high seven goals; two assists) scored the last two goals to seal the win. Classmate Alison Hoynes recorded a hat trick. Senior Christy Myjak and junior Emma Farrel contributed a goal and an assist. Junior Maddy Levy added another goal.
Farrel (save) and Sierra Ubertalli (six saves) played in goal for the first time.
The Lady Rams host Shelton (0-3) on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Boys' Tennis (1-4)
At Yale University courts, Cheshire defeated host Notre Dame-West Haven (0-4) 5-2 for their first win under Head Coach Chris Pappas. Juniors Jeremy Reichentahl (6-0, 6-1) and Nick Anthony (6-1, 6-3) claimed the top singles spots. Sophomores Jackson Ajello and Abdullah Choudhry needed three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) to come away victorious at number one doubles. Seniors Andrew Carroll and Blake Wetmore (6-0, 6-1), along with junior Greg Zovas and sophomore Matt Spadola (7-5, 6-2), completed a doubles sweep.
The Rams visit Hamden on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
Softball (4-2; 1-1 in Housatonic Division)
Amity (6-0; 3-0) took advantage of five errors in the last two innings, scoring six times to rally for a 7-3 victory in Cheshire. Junior Bryanna McIntosh provided the offense for CHS, hitting home runs in the first and fifth innings, respectively. McIntosh had three hits and three RBIs, driving home sophomore Olivia Odermatt (bunt single) during the fifth.
Sophomore Sara Como supplied two hits. Only three of Amity's seven runs were earned against senior Nicole D'Amato, who fired seven strikeouts. D'Amato surrendered nine hits.
The Lady Rams host Sacred Heart Academy (3-2) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Girls' Tennis (4-1)
Cheshire dropped their first match 6-1 against North Haven (3-2). At number two doubles, junior Ali Lamberti and freshman Durga Rathi won 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
CHS hosts unbeaten Amity (4-0) on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
Baseball (1-4; 0-2)
The Rams lost 8-3 against Amity (5-1; 2-1). In 3.1 innings of work, senior Christian Colp (1-1) surrendered nine hits and four walks. He had four strikeouts. Senior PJ Watson (three hits, two strikeouts, hit by pitch) and junior Kyle Waldron (two strikeouts, walk) pitched 2.1 and 1.1 innings, respectively.
Junior Dan Schock had an RBI. Classmate Ethan Lonardelli joined him with a double and run scored. Cheshire received singles from sophomore Ryan Pierpont and Tommy Savino.
Cheshire has postponed Tuesday's game with host Fairfield Prep (4-1) to Thursday at Fairfield University. New start time is 12 p.m.
CHS visits Sheehan (2-3; 2-0) on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
