CHS Lacrosse Sweeps On The Road, Golf Teams Continue Strong Starts

On Thursday, Cheshire High School boys' lacrosse (1-2) earned their first win 7-6 in thrilling fashion at Amity (2-2). Junior Matt Rougeot scored his second goal with 30 seconds remaining. It was his first game-winner.
Sophomore Matt Blois also scored twice. Senior Tom Dupont and sophomore Christian Russo added a goal and an assist. Russo hadn't earned varsity points before the game. Junior Ben Hamel added a goal. Senior John Klemenz recorded two assists. Junior goalkeeper Jared Lawson had 19 saves.
Saturday's home opener with Hauppauge (N.Y.) starts at 11 a.m.
Girls' Lacrosse (3-1)
CHS earned a 12-4 halftime lead en route to an 18-8 win at Branford (1-2). Junior Maddy Levy, who scored the first three goals, finished with a career-high five and an assist. Junior Emma Farrel posted seven points (four goals, three assists). Senior Erica Stauffer had three goals, assisting twice. Seniors Kathleen Kalbian and Christy Myjak (assist) chipped in two goals. Senior Alison Hoynes added four assists. Cheshire also got goals from juniors Michelle Federico and Olivia Larson.
Sophomore Alexa Carbone contributed six saves.
The Lady Rams visit Brookfield (2-1) on Monday at 4 p.m.
Girls' Golf (4-0)
Led by senior medalist Andra Frappier at 39, the Lady Rams beat Daniel Hand 204-212 win over Daniel Hand. Seniors Megan Robles and Maggie Kulpa shot 53 and 54, respectively. Senior Emily Larkin contributed a 58. Cheshire also received a 63 from senior Molly Pritchard and sophomore Dana Zappone.
CHS visits Copper Hill on April 22 to face host Suffield at 3 p.m.
Boys' Golf (4-1; 2-1 in Housatonic Division)
At the Farms Country Club, Cheshire defeated host Sheehan 164-191. For the second day in a row, senior Eric Dietrich earned medalist (39). Sophomore Chris Simione posted a 41, while juniors Jake Ecke and Tom Arisco tied at 42. Junior Ben Kaplan rounded out at 45.
The Rams host Fairfield Prep on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
Boys' Tennis (0-4)
CHS lost 7-0 against Glastonbury (2-0). On Monday, Cheshire plays host Notre Dame-West Haven (0-3) at Yale University courts. Start time is 3:45 p.m.
