CHS Outdoor Track And Field Sweeps At Home

Cheshire High School outdoor track and field picked up four victories on Tuesday. In their opener, the Lady Rams defeated Mercy (94-43) and Sheehan (97-53). Sophomore Alexandra Pelletier won the 100- (12.6) and 400-meters (60.4). She also contributed to the victorious 4x400-meter relay team (senior Saparja Nag, juniors Kimmi Grove and Theresa Cashore; 4:23.1). Classmate Natalie Wickenheisser claimed the 3,200-meters (12:11).
Juniors Kelsey Butler-Waitkus, Nina Orm, and Maggie Strunk teamed with freshman Esha Bhandari to take first in the 4x800-meter relay (13:16).
Cheshire also excelled in field events. Junior Selina Sampieri claimed first for the triple jump (32 feet, six inches) and pole vault (nine feet). Other winners were seniors Brittney Gunneson (javelin; 91 feet, one inch) and Ariel Greene (discus; 98 feet, seven inches) and freshman Janaia Skibitcky (long jump; 14 feet, 9.5 inches).
After dropping their opener last Wednesday, Cheshire (2-1) boys beat Sheehan (80.5-69.5) and Wilbur Cross (97-52). Junior Liam Nicoll captured the 100- (11.3), 200- (23.0), and 400-meters (52.3). He won the same events in the opener.
Senior Sagar Nakrani was victorious in the 3,200-meters (10:20.9). Senior Nick Jakowenko (long jump; 18 feet, five inches), juniors Chibueze Njoku (shot put; 41 feet, 10.5 inches) and David Holtman (pole vault; 10 feet), also won in the field. Sophomore Frank Fusco, senior Kevin Dietrich, juniors Yadi Lukashenko and Tyler Post comprised the winning team in the 4x100-meter relay (46.2).

Boys' Golf (2-1; 0-1)
Cheshire dropped the Housatonic Division opener 324-336 to host Amity, but beat Wolcott (373) at the Country Club of Woodbridge. Juniors Tom Arisco (81) and Jake Ecke (82) led the way, followed by senior Eric Dietrich (84), sophomore Chris Simione (89), and senior Mike Stanton (96).
Cheshire visits Bronson Country Club on Wednesday to face host Shelton at 2:30 p.m.

The Lady Rams travel to Sheehan (3-0) for the Housatonic Division opener at 3:45 p.m.

Cheshire visits defending Class LL Champion Shelton (2-2). The Housatonic opener starts at 3:45 p.m.
Boys' Volleyball (2-0)
Cheshire carries a 47-match win streak into this match against defending Class M runner-up Oxford (3-0) at 6 p.m. CPTV Sports will televise the game.
