Never Too Early To Think About Memorial Day Parade

March 15, 2013 by Special To The ...

It's not too early to start thinking about Memorial Day and the Veterans Council of Cheshire invites local organizations to participate in the Memorial Day Parade, to be held on Sunday, May 26 at 1:30 p.m. (Rain date is Sunday, June 2 at 1:30 p.m.) The two mile parade begins at Highland Elementary School and proceeds along Rt. 10 to Cheshire High School.
Again this year, the Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring a Float Division. Call the Parks & Recreation Department at (203) 272-2743 if you would like to march in this year’s parade or enter a float. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Deadline to register is May 17.
A letter containing marching orders will be sent to you approximately one week before the Parade. All Divisions will meet in the area of the Police Station and Highland School. There will be a shuttle bus service from Cheshire High School to the beginning of the parade. The buses (one which will be handicap accessible) will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. If there is a need to cancel the parade due to inclement weather, the cancellation will be announced on the Parks & Recreation’s information hotline after 10 a.m. The recording number is (203) 250-2470.
