On Monday, Cheshire High School skiing wrapped up in the Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League State Open at Mount Southington. For the Lady Rams (ninth, 312.6), senior Kelsie Carlette (46.3) finished just .10 behind Lauralton Hall champion Jill Murray. Freshman Meghan Diamond (33rd, 49.5) and sophomore Jennifer Brown (56th, 51.51) followed Carlette. Freshman Samantha Bellina (82nd, 54.87), sophomores Katherine DePalma (83rd, 54.95) and Meaghan Carroll (84th, 55.47) finished consecutively to add points. The Lady Rams ended a nine-year drought between State Open appearances.
Cheshire boys, led by senior Andrew Brown (11th, 46.95), placed sixth (291.67) as a team. Junior Ryan Bogrette (23rd, 47.89), seniors Matt Bossy (25th, 48.06) and Alec Cunningham (33rd, 48.64), sophomore Joe Urbano (48th, 49.22), and senior Mike Harris (81st, 50.91) also scored for the team.
Fairfield won the girls' (287.65) and boys' (281.24) titles. Carlette, sophomore Elizabeth Cunningham, and Brown made All-State.
