On Monday, at Mount Southington, Cheshire High School boys’ (18-4; 263.35) and girls’ (9-7; 288.14) skiing wrapped up the regular season. In her fourth victory (43.91) of the year, senior captain Kelsie Carlette led the girls' team past Amity (314.66) and Guilford (316.39). They lost Barlow (277.36) and Weston (284.58), but still qualified for the Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League State Open for the first time since 2004.
Sophomore Elizabeth Cunningham (fourth, 44.97), freshman Meghan Diamond (17th, 46.73), sophomores Jennifer Brown (42nd, 49.27) and Katherine DePalma (58th, 51.49), and freshman Samantha Bellina (61st, 51.77) followed Carlette.
The boys' squad went 6-0 against Amity (275.23), Barlow (288.44), Danbury (320.39), Guilford (293.59), Litchfield (289.67), and Weston (267.09). Senior Andrew Brown finished in third place (41.8). Senior Mike Harris (14th, 43.39), junior Ryan Bogrette (19th, 44.02), seniors Matt Bossy (21st, 44.41) and Alec Cunningham (26th, 44.61), and sophomore Joe Urbano (31st, 45.08) completed the scoring contingent.
Wednesday's CISL State Open for boys and girls starts at 4 p.m.
