Cheshire High School wrestlers, senior Dan Massucci (16th seed; 38-9) and junior Jake Cervero (17th; 31-9), advanced to Saturday's action (9 a.m.) of the State Open at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven. Cervero beat Haddam-Killingworth junior David Parmelee 18-6 in Friday's First Round, while Dan Massucci earned a 3-2 decision (overtime) against East Haven junior Anthony Milano. Top seeds, New Britain senior Geovanni Medina (15-0) and Foran senior CJ Luth (15-0), beat them in the second round. In consolation action, Cervero defeated East Catholic junior Peter Harris (11-6) and Massucci was victorious against Simsbury senior John DePasquale (3-1).
Senior Billy Janes (seventh; 28-12) had a first-round bye, but dropped his matches against Bristol Central senior Gino Rafaniello (7-6) and Stafford senior Ethan Pace (8-4). Janes, Massucci, and Cervero all competed for the first time at the meet.

CHS hosts Notre Dame-West Haven (14-3) at Wesleyan University. Start time is 7 p.m. Cheshire will hand out the Greg Schena/Mark Whitlock Award prior to drop of the puck.
Monday's final home game against Conard (5-10-2) has moved to Northford Ice Pavilion. Start time remains 8 p.m.
Boys' Basketball (eighth seed; 10-10)
The Rams meet top-seeded Hillhouse (19-1) in the opening Southern Connecticut Conference quarterfinal at 11 a.m.
