Residents Can Switch Recycling Containers

February 24, 2013 by Special To The ...

The following information was received from the Town of Cheshire:

The Town of Cheshire recently implemented a new single-stream, automated recycling collection program. As part of this process, each residence has been assigned a green recycling container, either 96-gallon or 64-gallon. The Town Council has approved a procedure for residents to exchange their 96-gallon container for a smaller container, provided that a sufficient number of 64-gallon containers are available. First priority will be given for reasons of medical condition/disability and age (over 65).
For all requests, residents must complete an application, which is available for download on the Town website: www.cheshirect.org or can be picked up at the Public Works Department in Town Hall, the Library, or the Senior Center. Applications must be returned by Thursday, March 28, and can be dropped off in person or sent by mail to:

Town of Cheshire, Public Works Department
84 S. Main Street
Cheshire, CT 06410

Applications will be reviewed in April and residents will be notified of their replacement status and the exchange procedure. Exchanges will likely not take place until the month of June, 2013; please continue using your assigned container until that time.
Residents may also exchange a 64 gallon container for a larger 96 gallon container or obtain a second 96 gallon container; please check the Town website at www.cheshirect.org for more information.
