CHS Boys' B-Ball, Swim And Dive Fall In Regular Season Finales

Cheshire High School boys' basketball (10-10; 6-2 in Housatonic Division) came up a point short 42-41 in the regular season finale at Joseph Foran (8-12). Foran junior Robert Notholt hit the decisive free throw at 4.6 seconds. On the strength of 17 points from senior Eric Dietrich, Cheshire led 23-21 at halftime. Dietrich had 22 points and six three-pointers. Classmate Erik Pettit added seven points.
The Rams (eighth seed) meet Hillhouse (top; 19-1) in Saturday's Southern Connecticut Conference quarterfinal at Branford. Start time is 11 a.m. Hillhouse is the defending SCC runner-up.
Boys' Swim and Dive (8-6)
At Francis Walsh Intermediate School, Cheshire lost 99-84 against host Branford (7-2). Freshmen Kyle Shadeck (200-yard individual medley, 2:09.56), Karl Bishop (500-yard freestyle, 5:16.07), and Michael Goodrich (50-yard freestyle, 24.09) secured individual victories in the dual-meet finale.
Monday's Southern Connecticut Conference Trials start 4 p.m. at Hamden.
