With the impending blizzard expected to hit Connecticut early tomorrow morning, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Florio has officially cancelled classes for Friday.
The forecast is for most of the state to see anywhere between a foot and two feet of snow before the storm ends sometime Saturday morning. Travel is expected to be difficult during most of the blizzard and state officials have already asked people to stay off the roads tomorrow unless absolutely necessary.
The decision to cancel classes comes as many other events scheduled for this weekend have already been postponed:
Cheshire Dog Park's Doggie Bowl, scheduled for Saturday at the Apple Valley Bowl in Plantsville, has been postponed. No new date has been set
Pasta and Jazz Dinner
The Cheshire High School Music Department has postponed its annual Pasta and Jazz Dinner to March 15
Cheshire (3-10) has postponed Saturday's game against host Watertown-Pomperaug at Taft School. There is no make-up date set yet. Watertown-Pomperaug won the first meeting 2-1 on Jan. 9 in overtime.
Cheshire still plays host Amity (10-3) tonight at West Haven. Start time is 6:30 p.m.
CHS (8-8; 5-2 in Housatonic Division) has postponed Friday's Housatonic finale against Lyman Hall (1-15; 0-7) to next Wednesday. Start time is 7 p.m. Cheshire won the first meeting 56-48 on Jan. 18.
