Superintendent Expected To Make Decision About Friday Classes This Afternoon

February 7, 2013 by John Rook

With the potential for a Friday blizzard in the forecast, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Florio is expected to make a decision this afternoon about whether classes will be canceled tomorrow, according to his office.
Florio will be speaking with other area superintendents later on today to discuss how different districts plan to handle the looming storm.
As of now, all local forecasts seem to be pointing to a large snowstorm beginning tomorrow and lasting through early Saturday. A blizzard watch has been issued for much of the state and meteorologists have indicated that some areas could see more than two feet of snow.
Yet, no determination has been made as to when the snow will start. Some outlets have suggested that the storm could begin early tomorrow morning while others have predicted the storm to start closer to midday.
Most predict, however, that travel between mid-afternoon and evening will be very difficult.
Check back with The Cheshire Herald website as we update how the town is preparing for this major storm and for announcements on any official cancellations.
