Two third-period goals led Cheshire High School ice hockey (3-10) to a 5-3 road win over host Milford Co-Op (7-6) at Milford Ice Pavilion. Milford tied the game 3-3 with 30 seconds left in the second, but junior Joe D'Errico scored the game-winner for a 4-3 lead with eight minutes remaining. A minute and three seconds later, classmate Jonathan Hauser netted the final goal.
CHS erased deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 in the first and second periods, respectively. Second-period scores from juniors Alex Bausch (two assists) and Chris Stevens resulted in a 3-2 lead for the Rams. Junior Luke Vendetto had a goal and assist. Sophomore Ben Klanica recorded two assists. Seniors Tyler Lima and Nick Vaill, along with junior Dan Purslow, also supplied assists.
Milford finished ahead in shots (31-26). Senior goalkeeper Scott Romano made 28 saves.
On Thursday, Cheshire renews their rivalry with host Amity (9-3) at West Haven. Start time is 6:30 p.m.
Cheerleading (third, 70.5 points)
Cheshire, the defending Southern Connecticut Conference Champion, followed Joseph Foran (74.2) and Branford (78) this year at Shelton.
Girls' Ice Hockey (8-8)
Amity/CHS/North Haven Co-Op girls' fell 10-1 against host Simsbury to end a five-game win streak. They visit West Haven on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.
