Finelli, Howard “Jerry”

CHESHIRE – Howard “Jerry” Finelli, 67, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Donna (Dellarocco) Finelli.

Jerry was born on October 26, 1945 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Chen and Elaine (Morin) Foo. He was an Electrical Engineer for Data Products in Wallingford before becoming an Engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft. During his employment at Sikorsky, Jerry was involved in many production programs such as Blackhawk and Comanche Helicopters. While working, he furthered his education by attending both Charter Oak College and Fairfield University. He loved spending time vacationing with his wife in Maine and had many hobbies and interests such as billiards, reading, and crosswords. He was known for his “Jeopardy!” knowledge and his love of UConn Women’s Basketball and the Miami Dolphins.

Besides his wife of 28 years, Jerry is survived by his son, Eric Finelli of Rockfall; his daughters, Tammy Ogrodnik of Cheshire and Jaime Collins of Meriden; his step-sons, Rich and Jeff Schiavi, both of Cheshire; his siblings, Lee, Sharon, Beatrice, Anna, Maylene, Lindie, and Mary; his grandchildren who referred to him as “Poppa G,” Haley, Madison, Frankie, Peyton, Kaitlin, Zach, Grace, Ava, Connor, and Ayden; his very special Aunt Charlotte and Uncle James; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley, Edward and Allen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Rd., Cheshire. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., is assisting with arrangements.
