Cheshire Ice Hockey Nets Six In First Win

Cheshire High School ice hockey (1-9) collected their first win 6-2 against Tri-Town (1-10) at Wesleyan University. The first six goals came in the second period, resulting in a 4-2 lead for CHS. The Rams tied the game twice (1-1, 2-2) and ended on a 5-0 run. Sophomore Ben Klanica (hat trick; penalty shot) and junior Alex Bausch (two goals) had personal-bests for goals. Senior Nick Vaill added his first goal (3-2). Junior Jonathan Hauser had two assists. Senior Tyler Lima, along with juniors Joe D'Errico and Dan Purslow, supplied assists. Cheshire took 27 shots. Senior goalkeeper Jack Naramore posted 16 saves.
The Rams host Hamden on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Tuesday's varsity basketball action:
Girls (6-7; 2-2 in Housatonic Division)
Cheshire aims to break a four-game slide against Lyman Hall (7-5; 2-2) at 7 p.m. CHS won 50-40 on Jan. 4 in Wallingford.
Boys (6-4; 3-1)
The Rams look for their fourth straight win at Sheehan (6-6; 2-2) at 7 p.m. Cheshire won 73-56 on Jan. 4.
