Two Dodd Students Win Peace Poster Contest

On January 10, Cheshire Lions Club President William Manthey (pictured, far right) presented Dodd Middle School student Jessica photo 1WEB.jpgTan (left of center) with a $100 Amazon gift card certificate for winning first place in the town wide 2013 Cheshire Lions Club Peace Poster Contest. Fellow Dodd student Mara Tu, (right of Jessica) was the runner-up winner and received a $50 Amazon gift card certificate from Manthey. Present for the award presentation were Principal Don Wailonis (far left), the students' art teacher Shelli Theriault (second from left) and Cara Luciani, chairperson of the Peace Poster Contest and past president of the Cheshire Historical Society (second from right).
Three schools participated: Dodd Middle School, Cheshire Academy, and St. Bridget School. An annual event, the Peace Poster Contest is also sponsored by Lions International with students participating worldwide.The 2013 theme was "Imagine Peace."
