CHS Ice Hockey Takes Another Tight Loss

Cheshire High School ice hockey (0-5) lost 5-4 against St. Joseph (2-2) at West Haven. There were five goals in the third period, with St. Joseph senior Christian Kzator completing his hat trick to break a 4-4 tie with 41 seconds left. Cheshire knotted the score after St. Joseph buried the first two goals of the third to take a 4-2 lead. Junior Luke Vendetto scored Cheshire's first two goals. Senior Tyler Lima had a goal and assist, while sophomore Ben Klanica supplied two assists. Junior Alex Bausch, assisted by junior Jonathan Hauser and sophomore Frank Ilnicki, deposited his first goal (4-4). In his first start of the season, senior goalkeeper Jack Naramore provided 24 saves. Cheshire took 26 shots, three less than St. Joseph.
Cheshire plays South Windsor on Saturday (1 p.m.) at West Haven.
Boys' Basketball (2-3; 0-1 in Housatonic Division)
Cheshire lost 63-56 at Southington (2-2). CHS hosts Sheehan on Jan. 4 at 7 p.m.

Cheshire visits defending New England/State Open/Class LL/Southern Connecticut Conference Champion Xavier at 1 p.m.
Girls' Basketball (3-2; 1-0)
The Lady Rams face Guilford (2-3) in the opening night of the Berlin Holiday Tournament at 5 p.m.
