Cheshire Ice Hockey Comes Up Short In OT, Wrestling Takes Runner-up

Cheshire High School ice hockey fell to 0-2 after today's 4-3 loss at East Haven. With 4:32 remaining in overtime, the Yellow Jackets won on a goal by junior Tristen Thompson.
In the final 3:09 left of regulation, Cheshire netted two goals for a 3-3 tie. Junior Luke Vendetto and senior Tyler Lima scored passes from sophomore Kyle Frederick. They were Frederick's first assists.
Junior Jonathan Hauser put in his first goal (1-1) in the first period. East Haven took a 2-1 lead to the second period during which they added their third goal.
East Haven took 33 shots, two more than Cheshire. Senior goalkeeper Scott Romano had 29 saves (personal-best).
The Rams play host Xavier on Wednesday at Wesleyan University. Start time is 6 p.m.
The Rams finished second in the Fairfield Ludlowe Tournament.
Wednesday's home opener against Shelton starts at 6 p.m.
