Cheshire boys' basketball (1-1) lost 66-64 at West Haven (2-0). A three-point attempt by junior Collin Jordan (17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals) spun out at the end. Cheshire had a 7-0 spurt for a 64-63 lead. Senior Kevin Dietrich (team-high 18 points, four rebounds) made four three-pointers for the second straight game. Brother and classmate Eric (two rebounds and steals) had two three-pointers among 13 points. Senior Erik Pettit (six rebounds, two steals) made three three-pointers for nine points. Senior Tim Covel (four rebounds) and junior Tyler Post (career-high five rebounds) had baskets. Junior Reid Duglenski also had one of the 10 three-pointers.
CHS plays Xavier in Tuesday's home opener at 7 p.m.
