Toth, Virginia M.

November 12, 2012 by Ellen Jarus Hanley

PLANTSVILLE – Virginia M. Toth, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 8, 2012. She was the wife of the late Edwin A. Toth of Cheshire, who passed away in 1993.

Mrs. Toth was born on November 18, 1921 in Cheshire, the daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Dinnen) Voit. She was a lifelong Cheshire native before moving to Plantsville two years ago. After an early period in the field of nursing, Mrs. Toth was a devoted wife and mother who most enjoyed time at home with her family. She was a communicant of St. Bridget Church, and an avid reader. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, tending to her many bird feeders, and time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Toth is survived by her sons, Alan Toth and his wife Carolyn of Cheshire, Richard Toth and his wife Patricia of Plantsville, and Robert Toth of Waterbury; her grandchildren, Scott (and wife Liesel) and Marc Toth, Kelly Toth Zigmunds (and husband Doug), Jamie Toth Eissler (and husband Karl), and Robert Toth; as well as her great-grandchildren, Sean and Eric Toth. Active until her very last day, she also treasured her many friends, especially Eleanor ‘Sis’ McDowell, Jan Stigberg, Naomi Kroner, Mary Mason, and her neighbor, Barbara McDonough.

Funeral services and burial were held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. To honor Mrs. Toth’s late husband Edwin and her strong support of this research organization, Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association at The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire assisted with arrangements.
