Cheshire High School field hockey (top seed; 17-2) beat Daniel Hand (second; 13-5-1) 1-0 in the Southern Connecticut Conference Final at Alumni Field. It is their second straight title and fifth win in a row! CHS won the season series 3-0. Junior Emma Farrel had the game-winner (assist to senior Miranda Garcia) with 27:53 remaining. Senior Lauren Fountain (six saves) got her 14th shutout! In three tournament games, Cheshire had a 6-0 scoring disparity.

Girls' Volleyball (top seed; 19-1)
Cheshire carries a six-match win streak into Wednesday's Final against Amity (third; 16-4) at North Haven. Start time is 6 p.m. Amity is the only team to beat Cheshire 3-2 on Oct. 15 in Woodbridge. Amity beat host Mercy (second; 16-4) 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 25-17, 25-20) in Tuesday's semifinal.
CHS and Amity split during the regular season, sharing the Housatonic Division title at 7-1. The Lady Rams won the first meeting on Sept. 28. This SCC Final is Cheshire's 16th Final in the last 17 years! They beat Guilford 3-0 for their eighth title (SCC record) last year.
CHS swept Sheehan (eighth; 12-8) in last Thursday's quarterfinal by scores of 25-9, 25-12, 25-16. It was their third win against them. Cheshire eliminated Sacred Heart Academy (fourth; 15-5) 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-20) in Monday's semifinals.
