SCC Tournament Changes

Southern Connecticut Conference has announced tournament changes in four sports involving Cheshire High School! Capsules are below:
Girls' Volleyball (17-1; Housatonic Division Champion at 7-1)
Cheshire has secured the Southern Connecticut Conference top seed and will host Sheehan (eighth; 12-7) in Thursday's quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Sheehan beat Lyman Hall (ninth; 11-8) 3-2 (18-25, 26-24, 25-17, 24-26, 15-13) in Saturday's First Round. Cheshire beat the Titans on Sept. 21 (3-0) and Oct. 10 (3-1).

Jonathan Law (11th; 9-10) 0, Branford (sixth; 14-5) 3
25-17, 25-22, 25-20
Guilford (10th; 11-8) 3, East Haven (seventh; 12-7) 0
25-23, 25-16, 25-17
Friday's other quarterfinals
Guilford at Mercy (second; 15-3) 6 p.m.
Branford at Amity (third; 14-4) 3:45 p.m.
Joseph Foran (fifth; 13-5) at Sacred Heart Academy (fourth; 14-4) 6 p.m.
Saturday's semifinals at higher seeds
Monday's Final starts 6 p.m. at North Haven
The Lady Rams are the defending champion (SCC record; eight titles)! They swept Guilford last year.
Field Hockey (14-2; SCC Champion at 10-0)
By virtue of going unbeaten for the second year in a row, the Lady Rams are the top seed. CHS hosts Sacred Heart Academy (eighth; 3-11-1-1) in Saturday's quarterfinal at Alumni Field. Start time is 3 p.m. Cheshire won 9-0 on Oct. 9.

Hamden (fifth; 11-4-1) at Branford (fourth; 9-3-3-1)
Mercy (seventh; 6-8-1) at Daniel Hand (second; 11-4-1)
Amity (sixth; 4-7-4) at Guilford (third; 8-5-3)
Semifinals (CHS)
Monday; 5 and 7 p.m.
Final (CHS)
Tuesday; 6 p.m.
Cheshire beat host Guilford 2-1 (overtime) for their first tournament title last year!
Girls' Soccer (12-2-2; Housatonic Champion at 6-0-2)
CHS is the second seed. Cheshire will host Daniel Hand (seventh; 10-6) in a quarterfinal on Friday or Saturday. Time has yet to be decided! CHS swept Hand on Sept. 14 (4-1) and Oct. 6 (3-1). CHS is the defending SCC Champion (six all-time), beating Shelton 1-0 last fall.

Girls' Swim and Dive (9-1 in dual meets)
Cheshire swimmers visit Southern Connecticut State University for the SCC Final on Monday at 6 p.m. Since Monday's trials at Cheshire Community Pool have been canceled, there will be 32 swimmers per event. Diving hasn't been rescheduled.
CHS (835.5 points) finished second to Amity (882.5) last year.
