Town Offices To Open At Noon

October 30, 2012 by Josh Morgan

All Town offices and facilities will be opening at noon today, Oct. 30.
Hurricane Sandy came and went and the impact to Cheshire was not as severe as other parts of the state. Local offices were closed early yesterday as the storm made its way up the East Coast. Officials decided to re-open all Town facilities later this afternoon.
Cheshire Public Schools were closed on Oct. 29, and remain closed today. Students will be back in class tomorrow, Oct. 31.
There are still hundreds of residents without power, but those appear to be isolated incidents as a result of large trees taking down power lines. At approximately 11 a.m., Connecticut Light & Power was reporting that 3 percent of Cheshire, or nearly 400 customers, were without power.
Across the state, nearly 40 percent, or more than 485,000 customers are without power.
Be sure to check out Thursday's Cheshire Herald for a story on how the Town weathered the storm, and photos of damage from around Cheshire.
