CHS Girls Sweep On Tuesday

Cheshire High School sophomore swimmer Lindsay Smalec captured the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.58) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.48) to lead her team (8-0) to a 96-90 win against host Branford (8-1) at Walsh Intermediate School. Senior Taylor Deubel (100-yard breaststroke, 1:12.12), along with sophomores Sara Barlok (100-yard backstroke, 1:02.62) and Erin Mostoller (diving, 171.55), were also victorious.
CHS will recognize eight seniors in Thursday's final home dual meet against Mercy at Cheshire Community Pool. Start time is 6 p.m.
Field Hockey (12-1; 8-0 in Southern Connecticut Conference)
Cheshire secured their fourth consecutive win 5-0 at North Haven (4-7). Juniors Michelle Federico (two goals), Emma Farrel (goal), Kathleen Lima (goal), and Olivia Larson all had assists. Sophomore Mikayla Crieger also scored. They had a 4-0 lead by halftime. Senior Lauren Fountain (two saves) and junior Maddy Levy both contributed to the shutout.
Cheshire hosts Greenwich (8-4) in Thursday's final regular season home game at Alumni Field. Start time for their Play 4 The Cure Game is 5 p.m.
Girls' Soccer (10-1-1; 5-0-1 in Housatonic Division)
The Lady Rams came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to win 3-1 at Sheehan (4-4-4; 1-4-1). They took the series. Sophomore Alexandra Pelletier posted two goals and senior Lauren Como had one. Junior Lily Dolyak assisted Pelletier. Junior Natalie Reynolds (save) was the winning goalkeeper.
Cheshire hosts Shelton (7-2-3; 4-1-2) tomorrow at 3:45 p.m. The rivals tied 0-0 on Oct. 1 in Shelton.
