Cheshire High School girls' cross country (7-0; 4-0 in Housatonic Division) won a school-record fourth straight Housatonic Division title yesterday at Fitzgerald Trail in Woodbridge. The girls beat host Amity (20-36) and Shelton (20-35). Senior Kathleen Kalbian went unbeaten in dual meets, winning in 19:38. Classmate Hannah Purtell (20:05), sophomore Natalie Wickenheisser (20:08), and junior Kimmi Grove (20:16) finished from fourth to sixth. Junior Erin Strahley was ninth (20:55).
The boys' squad defeated Shelton (21-38) while losing to the five-time defending champion Amity (15-47). Junior Lucas Marcouiller (sixth, 16:41), senior Sagar Nakrani (eighth, 16:47), sophomore Mark Fusco (12th, 16:59), senior Sam Brown (13th, 17:12), and junior Ben Kaplan (16th, 17:29) were point scorers.

The boys are running in Saturday's Nonnewaug High School Invitational at 10 a.m.
Girls' Soccer (8-1-1; 4-0-1)
Cheshire defeated Amity (6-3-1; 2-3) for the second time by a score 2-0. Sophomore Alexandra Pelletier netted both goals, assisted by junior Lily Dolyak and sophomore Hannah Perez, in the final four minutes. Junior goalkeeper Natalie Reynolds (two saves) secured her shutout against the Spartans.
The Lady Rams look for their fourth straight win when they visit Wilbur Cross on Friday to play New Haven Co-Op at 3:45 p.m. Cheshire already beat them 6-0 on Sept. 26.
Boys' Soccer (4-4-2; 2-2-1)
Cheshire won 1-0 at Sheehan (5-3-1; 1-3-1), sweeping the season series. Senior goalkeeper Evan Colechia picked up his second straight shutout. Senior Nick Berardi assisted the game-winner from classmate Matt Mueller with 5:54 remaining.
The Rams host Lyman Hall (4-4-1; 2-2) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Lyman Hall recorded a 1-0 home win on Sept. 25.
Girls' Swim and Dive (6-0)
Senior Jenna Cannata captured the 50-yard freestyle (26.44) at Wilbur Cross, contributing to the victorious 200-yard medley (junior Laura Mongillo, senior Taylor Deubel, sophomore Lindsay Smalec; 1:59.53) and freestyle (senior Maegan McGee, sophomore Ellie Senft, junior Denise Costello; 1:48.16) in a 101-80 victory over host Sacred Heart Academy (6-2). Deubel (200-yard individual medley, 2:22.3), senior Molly Condron (100-yard backstroke, 1:06.09), Costello (100-yard breaststroke, 1:14.9), and freshman Danielle Grenon (100-yard butterfly, 1:08.49) also took first places.
Cheshire hosts Daniel Hand on Friday at the Cheshire Community Pool. Start time is 7 p.m.
Field Hockey (9-1; 5-0 in Southern Connecticut Conference)
Cheshire scored five times in the first half of a 9-0 win against Sacred Heart Academy (0-8-0-1). Junior Michelle Federico had a personal-high four goals, while classmate Kathleen Lima matched her best total with two goals.
Junior Danielle Bellantonio deposited her first goal. Seniors Lindsey Bonitz and Emily Doooley joined sophomore Sara Como with their initial assists. Senior Maggie Kulpa joined sophomore Erica Stauffer (goal) with an assist.
Junior Maddy Levy and senior Lauren Fountain each played a half of the shutout. Fountain had a save. SHA senior goalkeeper Meghan Castellano compiled 15 saves.
Nine girls will be honored in Thursday's Senior Night against Amity (3-4-1) at 6 p.m. The ceremony is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
Girls' Volleyball (11-0; 4-0)
Cheshire swept at Wilbur Cross. They visit Sheehan (7-4; 1-3) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Rams earned a sweep on Sept. 21.
