Cheshire High School girls' volleyball (9-0; 4-0 in Housatonic Division) earned a 3-1 victory at Shelton (3-6; 0-4). Game scores were 25-8, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17. Senior Amanda Palladino (11 kills), junior Becca Ligi (personal-high 13 kills), sophomores Sarah Rodgers (career-best 37 assists) and Maria Buzzelli (11 digs), contributed to the win. Ligi additionally served three aces.
The Rams host Jonathan Law (3-5) on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Cheshire held their only home meet yesterday at Cheshire Park. Girls (5-0; 2-0) are still unbeaten after beating Sheehan 19-44. Senior Kathleen Kalbian was the winner (20:39). Sophomores Natalie Wickenheisser (21:24) and Elizabeth Cunningham (21:50), seniors Julie Trifone (21:59) and Hannah Purtell (22:06), junior Erin Strahley (22:26), sophomore Kendra Brown (23:10), and junior Hyenju Kwon (23:22) followed Sheehan junior Liz Fengler (20:49).
Boys (6-1; 2-0) defeated Sheehan 15-50 and Notre Dame-West Haven 15-44. Cheshire lost to Xavier (7-0). Sophomore Mark Fusco (fifth, 17:19), seniors Sagar Nakrani (seventh, 17:27) and Sam Brown (ninth, 17:32), and junior Lucas Marcouiller (10th, 17:39) were top scorers.
Lady Rams compete in Saturday's Wickham Park Invite in Manchester. Freshman run at 9:50 a.m. and girls' varsity championship is slated for 3:25 p.m.

Girls' Soccer (6-1-1; 3-0-1)
CHS, posting a 25-4 advantage in shots, scored early and often in winning 11-0 against Lyman Hall (2-4-1; 0-3). Junior goalkeeper Natalie Reynolds (six saves) picked up her fifth shutout in a row. In scoring a personal-high three goals each, Sophomores Alexandra Pelletier and Kathleen Castrilli both had an assist. Seniors Jenna Hart (two goals, assist), Kelsie Carlette (goal), Nicole Stauffer (goal), Lauren Como (assist), along with juniors Lily Dolyak (first goal of the year; two assists) and Leah Chamberlin (assist), all supplied points.
Cheshire visits Daniel Hand (5-3) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CHS won the Sept. 14 meeting 4-1.
Boys' Soccer (2-4-2; 1-2-1)
On the strength of a late goal, Cheshire earned a 1-1 draw at Shelton (4-2-2; 2-0-2). Senior Matt Mueller, assisted by classmate Sam Donahue, tied the score with 11.6 seconds remaining. Shelton junior Matt Stoll netted the first goal in the second half. The Gaels out-shot CHS 7-2. Senior goalkeeper Evan Colechia stopped six of those seven shots.
The Rams host Guilford (2-1-4) on Saturday at Cheshire Alumni Field. Start time is 6 p.m. The teams finished scoreless on Sept. 14 in Guilford.
