Additional Officers Patrolling Cheshire High School After Possible Threat Found Written In Bathroom

October 2, 2012 by Josh Morgan

As a result of a possible threat written inside the boy’s bathroom at Cheshire High School, extra police officers are patrolling the grounds today.
On Monday, CHS staff noticed a message written on the bathroom stall in blue ink. The message reads “people will die on/in school on October 2nd according to the Mayans” and, according to Principal Jeff Solan, it has “taken on a life of its own.” Through social media, the message was spread and rumors began swirling around the school. Solan emailed parents last night to shed some light on the purported threat.
“I take this very seriously, however it is much different than the rumor that is circulating,” Solan wrote in the email. “Students are saying someone wrote that they were bringing a gun to school tomorrow or some variation of that depending on who you talk to. Please know that we take security very seriously at CHS.”
According to the Cheshire Police Department, in addition to the School Resource Officer, three additional officers were patrolling the high school today. The extra officers are expected to stay on campus throughout the rest of the school week.
