Cheshire High School varsity cross county was second in varsity 2 races at the 34th Haddad Windham Invite in Willimantic. Boys scored 66 points right behind Amity (65). Junior Trey Phillips (fourth, 16:42.5), senior Sagar Nakrani (seventh, 16:53.4), senior Sam Brown (15th, 17:06.7), sophomore Mark Fusco (19th, 17:10.7), seniors Brendan Donovan (25th, 17:19.17) and Dante Anastasio (38th, 17:34.7), and sophomore Ben Kaplan (53rd, 17:57.8) ran for CHS.
Girls had 80 points. Avon was the winner (25). Senior Kathleen Kalbian finished seventh overall (20:08.2). Sophomores Natalie Wickenheisser (13th, 20:48.5) and Elizabeth Cunningham (16th, 20:59.4), junior Kim Grove (22nd, 21:17.4), senior Hannah Purtell (30th, 21:32), sophomores Kendra Brown (32nd, 21:36.8) and Sharon Bian (44th, 22:18), followed Kalbian.
Cheshire girls' junior varsity claimed first place with 53 points.
CHS meets host East Haven, Lyman Hall, and North Haven on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
