Cheshire High School football came back from a 16-0 deficit to win the opener 30-23 against visiting Shelton. Scoring summary is below:
First Quarter
38-yard touchdown by Shelton junior Jason Thompson (5:53) 0-7, Shelton
Point after touchdown by Shelton senior Ed Groth was good
Safety (2:58) 0-9, Shelton
Second Quarter
Four-yard run by Shelton junior Jagger Kalagian (11:40) 0-16, Shelton
PAT by Groth was good
65-yard score from senior Sam Pascale (10:23) 8-16, Shelton
Senior Vin Sansone runs for two-point conversion
Five-yard touchdown from Sansone (57 seconds) 16-16, Tie
Sophomore Jack Cunningham scores two-point conversion
Third Quarter
Eight-yard touchdown from Pascale (10:33) 22-16, Cheshire
PAT from freshman Matt D'Andrea failed
Fourth Quarter
Three-yard score by Sansone (5:12) 30-16, Cheshire
Cunningham ran for two-point conversion
22-yard touchdown from Shelton sophomore Mark Piccirillo to junior Michael Pingree
