Nowakowski Helps Fordham Rams Make History

September 10, 2012 by Greg Lederer

Junior defensive back Casey Nowakowski, a 2010 Cheshire High School graduate, contributed to a 1-0 shutout for the Fordham University (Bronx, N.Y.) women's soccer team yesterday at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. The Rams had never beaten a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference before.
Sophomore Kristina Maksuti netted the lone goal in the 70th minute. Senior goalkeeper Rachel Suther provided 12 saves. Fordham improved to 2-4, while Maryland dropped to 4-2-1.
Fordham, coached by Ness Salmani, returns to New York to face host Columbia University on Friday at 7 p.m.
