Weekend Plans? If Not, Check Out These Cheshire Events

July 20, 2012 by John Rook

Forecasters are predicting rain for this morning but, by mid-afternoon it looks like a stretch of good weather is going to move in. That should make for a nice weekend to get out and enjoy some summer fun.
If you don't already have plans, you might want to check out some local happenings here in Cheshire. You can save on gas and enjoy some family fun:

Tonight, July 20
Aztec Two-Step Concert
Bartlem Park
7:30 p.m.

Aztec Two-Step is coming to Cheshire, bringing with them their folk-rock sound that has been enjoyed by audiences since the 1970s. The concert is free and there will be food and drink available at the concession stand. All proceeds obtained during the concert will go towards the Cheshire Dog Park.

Tonight, July 20, and Saturday, July 21
Holiday in July Craft Fair and Bake Sale
Highland Health Center
745 Highland Avenue
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (both days)

It might be summer, but the holidays aren't that far away. If you're in a festive mood this weekend, check out the Holiday in July Craft Fair and Bake Sale.

Saturday, July 21
"Colby Got a Heart and Now the Beat Goes On" Benefit Concert
Cheshire Park
From 1 to 9 p.m.

Cheshire resident Colby Salerno waited six months in Hartford Hospital for a miracle: a new heart. He finally received it this past spring, meaning the 24-year-old has a new lease on life. However, the overwhelming cost associated with Salerno's care is still a reality for he and his family. This weekend's benefit concert will go towards helping the family defray some of those costs.
