Diane Calabro, the president of the Cheshire Historical Society, receives queries most days asking for information about Cheshire. “Many of the questions are related to Civil War areas or family name research, but some are more obscure.” Most recently, Calabro received an e-mail from North Carolina from a man who had had grown up in Cheshire on Payne Drive and recalled bike riding through an old golf course. Now, an avid golfer and golf history hobbyist, he’s wondering what that property was.
Calabro found this property was the old Honey Pot Club founded in 1929. However, Calabro is realizing that she needs to reach out to people that have memories of Cheshire’s past and might be her “go to” people when queries come up.
While these sources would provide anecdotal background, Calabro would also like to update a Subject Matter Expert listing at the Historical Society, for anyone who might want to share their fields of interest or consider speaking to the Cheshire Historical Society members.
