Chef Kevin Cottle and Chef Van Hurd, the lead chefs at Jordan Caterers based in Cheshire, took part in an event at the James Beard House in New York City on Wednesday, July 11. James Beard was an American chef, food writer, and champion of American cuisine who is widely considered the father of American gastronomy. Managed by the James Beard Foundation, Beard's historic renovated brownstone, located at 167 West 12th Street in the heart of Greenwich Village, is North America's only historical culinary center.
Noteworthy chefs, winemakers, and professionals are featured in the Beard Foundation's programs to advance the organization's mission “to celebrate, preserve, and nurture America’s culinary heritage and diversity in order to elevate the appreciation of our culinary excellence.”
Chef Cottle and Chef Hurd, were invited to the Beard House based on their regional and national reputation , their demonstrated excellence in their profession and their known use of high quality, seasonal, and local ingredients. The Chefs presented a "Softshell Crab Extravaganza" featuring Maryland softshell crab in every savory course.
