With unanimous support from the Board of Education, Jeff Solan was appointed as the next principal of Cheshire High School.
The Board met with Solan on Thursday night in executive session for a number of hours, and when the group emerged, he was approved for the job. Solan, who had served as the principal of Dodd Middle School, was recommended for the post at CHS by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Florio. Solan officially starts in the middle of the month. He takes over for Kevin Ryan, who officially resigned late last month.
“Jeff in more than qualified. He is an excellent educator and an outstanding administrator,” Florio said.
Florio and Solan had been talking about the position for a few months, as both men were aware of Ryan’s planned resignation back in April. Florio had asked for the external job posting requirement be waived, and recommended Solan, the lone candidate, for the job.
“I am really excited to begin working with everyone at Cheshire High School,” Solan said.
