June 28, 2012 by John Rook

Have you picked up a copy of your Cheshire Herald yet? If not, here is what you are missing:

*Less than a week after Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Florio announced that Cheshire High School Principal Kevin Ryan had resigned from his position, a new person has been tapped to fill the void. Florio confirmed this week that he will likely recommend Dodd Middle School Principal Jeff Solan for the job at CHS. Read what he had to say about the decision, and what it means for Dodd.

*The new bubble over the Cheshire Community Pool came down a few weeks ago. However, an accident during the process resulted in a tear to the bubble's fabric. Find out what the Town plans to do, and the timeframe for the repair.

*With the economy still trudging along slowly, towns all over the country are looking for ways to save. Cheshire seems to have found one way, by refinancing their debt services. Learn how much they expect to save.

*The W/S/ Development project created a raging debate in town several years ago, when the company proposed a sprawling shopping center to be located in the northern part of Cheshire. However, when the economy went south, so did plans for the project. This past month, W/S quietly received another extension for its project, yet if and when that project gets off the ground remains a mystery. Read what W/S representatives have to say about the future of the shopping center.

*Don't miss our editorials this week, as we look at the decision to hire Solan for the CHS position and also the need to exercise caution when setting off fireworks this Fourth of July.

*As always, our Around Town, Sports, and Schools sections have all your local news and happenings.
