Preview Of This Week's Cheshire Herald

June 14, 2012 by John Rook

Have you picked up a copy of The Cheshire Herald yet? If not, here is what you're missing:

*The Town of Cheshire got some good news recently as certain projects were completed under budget. That freed up money for additional roadwork. Learn how much is available and how it will be used.

*A pilot program at Highland School is testing LED lights to see how much the energy efficient bulbs can save. Read how much has been saved so far, and to where the program might be expanded.

*The overhaul of the Town's technology infrastructure continues, but it is expected to be more expensive than originally anticipated. Find out how much more money is needed to complete all the different projects.

*Town officials have insisted that, despite the fact voters turned down funding for upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Plant at referendum last November, the same question will be put to them come 2012 Election Day. However, members of the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) aren't leaving anything to chance, and are taking their message as to how important the upgrades are to the Town to the public. Learn what they plan to do to educate residents.

*Make sure to check out our editorial this week, as we explore how the Colby Salerno case shows the importance of organ donation, and how such a selfless act can shine a little light on otherwise senseless tragedies.

*As always, our Around Town, Sports, and Schools sections have all your local news and happenings.
