CHS Boys' Volleyball Wins 28th Straight Match!

At Burlington's Har Bur Middle School, Cheshire High School boys' volleyball (6-0) won their 28th straight match 3-0 against host Lewis Mills (3-2). Game scores were 25-16, 25-8, 25-20. Senior Nate Howard, who has supplied 16 kills in consecutive matches, recorded five blocks and classmate Ryan Cuppernull contributed 15 kills. Senior Ray Brumleve (three service aces) totaled 38 assists. Junior Evan Colechia added nine kills.
The Rams visit Glastonbury (3-1) on Friday at 4 p.m.
Softball (6-3; 2-1)
East Haven (6-2) jumped ahead 1-0 on a home run from Brianna Spadacenta in the first inning, but Cheshire rallied for a 4-2 victory. They scored three times in the third to take a 3-1 advantage. Freshman Casey Harding (triple), sophomore Bryanna McIntosh (single), and senior Caroline Kushner (single) all scored.
McIntosh led off the fifth with a triple and scored on a double from Kushner added an RBI double to score McIntosh (triple) in the fifth. Junior Nicole D’Amato gave up four hits and fired seven strikeouts. Spadacenta had three hits for East Haven.
Cheshire hosts Amity (7-1; 2-0) tomorrow at 3:45 p.m.
Baseball (2-7; 0-3)
At Pat Wall Field in Wallingford, Cheshire's slide reached five games with a 1-0 loss to host Lyman Hall (4-5; 1-2). Sophomore Dan Schock (four hits, six strikeouts, two walks) was relieved by junior PJ Watson in the sixth. Schock had two hits to lead the Cheshire offense.
The Rams host Amity (6-2; 2-0) tomorrow at 4 p.m.
Boys' Outdoor Track And Field (5-3)
Cheshire defeated Notre Dame-West Haven 116-34 and lost 78.6-71.3 to Sheehan. Senior Jake Scinto captured the high (six feet, two inches), long (21 feet), and triple (43 feet) jumps, along with the shot put (40 feet, 6.5 inches).
Seniors David Gomes (pole vault, 11 feet), James Holtman (javelin, 139 feet and four inches), and junior Rahmi Roundtree (100-meters, 11.7) also secured first places.

Boys' Golf (4-1; 3-1)
At the Wallingford Country Club, Cheshire defeated host Lyman Hall 159-190. Junior Eric Dietrich was the medalist at 40. Sophomores Jake Ecke (39) and Tom Arisco (44) and junior Mike Stanton (44) also scored.
The Rams host Amity and Sheehan on Monday at the Farms Country Club. Start time is 2:30 p.m.
