Boys' Tennis Earns Third Sweep In A Row, Boys' Volleyball Stays Unbeaten

Cheshire High School boys' volleyball (5-0) secured their 27th straight victory 3-1 against Daniel Hand (2-4). Game scores were 25-14, 25-14, 19-25, 25-9. Senior Ryan Cuppernull hit 17 kills. Classmate Nate Howard (16 kills) and junior Evan Colechia (13 kills) were close behind. Senior Ray Brumleve had 47 assists.

Boys' Tennis (6-1)
Cheshire won their fifth straight match 7-0 against Jonathan Law this morning. Jackson Ajello and Abdullah Choudhry (6-2, 6-1) and David Light and Ricardo Valentin (6-1, 6-2) swept in freshmen double. Singles victories came from seniors Tanner Barros (6-1, 6-2) and Jeff Lee (6-2, 6-3), along with sophomore Nick Anthony (6-3, 6-0), senior Usama Choudhry (6-1, 6-0), and junior Blake Wetmore (6-0, 6-0).
The Rams visit undefeated Avon (6-0) on Monday at 3:45 p.m. Avon has won 7-0 in each match, so far.
Baseball (2-6; 0-2 in Housatonic Division)
Cheshire saw a 3-0 advantage evaporate in the sixth inning and ended up losing their fourth straight 4-3 to North Haven in eight innings. North Haven used five walks and a single to plate three runs in the sixth. In the eighth, they scored the winning run on a suicide squeeze.
Sophomore Ethan Lonardelli didn't allow a run in the first five innings, pitching a two-hitter with three walks and strikeouts apiece. Senior Nick D'Annolfo and junior Vin Sansone relieved him in the sixth.
The Rams scored first in the second inning and added two more runs in the third. Junior Matt Gardiner had two singles, an RBI, and scored a run. Senior Jordan Kubilus and Lonardelli had singles and plated the other two runs. Senior Tim Budd added a single and two RBIs.
Cheshire visits Lyman Hall on Monday at 3:45 p.m.
Softball (5-3; 2-1)
The Lady Rams scored five times during the fourth inning of a 7-2 victory at Shelton (4-4; 0-2). Freshman Casey Harding collected three RBIs from a double and single. Junior Nicole D'Amato (two strikeouts, walk) surrenderred nine hits. She helped her cause with a triple and double.
Cheshire hosts East Haven (6-1) on Monday at 4 p.m.
