CHS Lacrosse Drops Games To Top Competition

Cheshire High School girls' lacrosse (4-1) lost their first game 17-6 to defending Class L Champion Greenwich (5-0), who defeated CHS 11-6 in the 2011 semifinals. A 7-0 surge and an 11-3 edge in the second half were the difference for Greenwich. Senior goalkeeper Cortney Andes posted 12 saves (personal-high). Seniors Maria Blois and Alyssa Hague had two goals and an assist. Junior Kathleen Kalbian added a goal and an assist. Classmate Christy Myjak scored a goal. Juniors Alison Hoynes and Nicole Stauffer registered assists.
Greenwich junior Emily Johnson put in six goals. Senior goalkeeper Hannah Jeffrey made 11 saves.
Cheshire visits Simsbury (2-1) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Boys' Lacrosse (3-2)
Cheshire came up a goal short 13-12 against host Bayshore (N.Y.). Senior Kevin Adams and junior John Klemenz tallied hat tricks, each recording an assist like freshman Matt Blois and senior Tyler Violano (two goals). Junior Jake Nesdale had two goals, while senior Spencer Hackett (nine of 16 on face-offs) and junior Tom Dupont buried one. Sophomore Jared Lawson came up with 19 saves (personal-high).
The Rams host undefeated Simsbury (4-0) on Thursday at 11 a.m.
