CHS LAX Sweeps Foes

Cheshire High School girls' lacrosse is off to their best start (4-0) since 2003 when they won their first six games. Cheshire earned a 13-10 victory yesterday at Newtown (2-1). They last beat Newtown 14-10 in 2005.
Senior Maria Blois and junior Kathleen Kalbian contributed four goals and an assist apiece. Sophomore Emma Farrel added a hat trick. Senior Alyssa Hague and junior Christy Myjak had goals. Junior Alison Hoynes chipped in an assist and senior goalkeeper Cortney Andes totaled five saves.
Cheshire took a 7-5 lead into halftime at Newtown's Treadwell Town Park and held on for the win to set up Saturday's unbeaten clash with defending Class L Champion Greenwich (4-0), who beat Cheshire 11-6 in last year's Class L semifinal. Start time is 6 p.m.
Boys' Lacrosse (3-1)
After Southington scored twice to open the night game, Cheshire converted eight consecutive goals in a 11-3 victory. The Rams led 5-2 at intermission. Senior Kevin Adams had three goals and two assists. Juniors Tom Dupont (assist) and Jake Nesdale also added hat tricks. Senior Tyler Violano supplied two goals and two assists. Senior Spencer Hackett also recorded an assist. Sophomore Jared Lawson started for the first time in goal, making seven saves. Read about this game in next week's issue of The Cheshire Herald.
Cheshire plays host Bay Shore (N.Y.) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Boys' Golf (3-1; 2-1 in Housatonic Division)
Spearheaded by junior medalist Eric Dietrich (36), Cheshire secured a 165-192 win over Sheehan 165-192 at the Farms Country Club. Sophomore Tom Arisco (39) and Jake Ecke (42), along with freshman Chris Simione (45), followed Dietrich.
Cheshire hosts Guilford on April 23 at 2:30 p.m.

The unbeaten Rams host Amity at 6 p.m. in the West Gym.
