At Mercy, Cheshire High School softball had their 3-0 start stopped in yesterday's 4-0 loss. Mercy added runs in both the fourth and six innings and Cheshire received singles from Sophomores Bryanna McIntosh and Alexa DiLeo. Junior pitcher Nicole D'Amato gave up eight hits, striking out seven.
Cheshire visits North Haven (2-2) tomorrow at 3:45 p.m.
Girls' Golf (1-1)
Cheshire came up short 173-197 against Farmington in the home opener at the Southington Country Club. Junior Andra Frappier fired a 38, two strokes behind Farmington freshman medalist Kelly Whaley. Juniors Emily Larkin (52) and Meg Robles (53) and senior Elizabeth Beaudoin (54) and junior Maggie Kulpa (59) followed Frappier.
Cheshire travels to Banner Country Club today to play host Haddam-Killingworth at 3 p.m.
Boys' Golf (2-1; 1-1 in Housatonic Division)
At Alling Golf Course, Cheshire beat host East Haven 165-192. Sophomore Jake Ecke was medalist (40) and freshman Chris Simione added a 41. Dietrich and senior Mike Raccio both fired 42.
The Rams host Sheehan today at the Farms Country Club. Start time is 2:45 p.m.
Cheshire Rugby Club
The boys' program collected two victories over Amity at Quinnipiac Park. The 'A' side (2-2) won 27-12. They received tries from Brendan Clark, Colby Festa, Andrew Kaczmarek, Joe Phillips, and JohnOwen Sasso. Jeff Carbonella (selected by Amity captains), Clark, and Ryan Stanek were the Men of the Match.
The 'B' side (3-1), led by Man of the Match Sal Rubano, limited Amity to one try in a 15-5 victory. Alex Bausch, EJ Martini, and Ani Vedere contributed tries for Cheshire.
On April 5, the 'A' side lost 57-7 against Fairfield Prep. Kaczmarek scored in the loss. Quinlan Demac was Man of the Match.
Cheshire visits Greenwich tonight at 5 p.m.
