In a game between unbeaten teams on Monday, Cheshire High School softball (3-0) rallied to beat Guilford (2-1) 5-4 in eight innings. Guilford led 2-0 in the first inning and added another run, but Cheshire scored twice in the seventh on a two-run triple from junior catcher Kierstyn Bourdeau (two hits) to force extra innings in the home opener. Junior Kathryn Vitale, who also had two hits, put down the walk-off bunt single to score freshman Casey Harding (personal-best three hits, two RBIs). Junior hurler Nicole D'Amato surrendered 11 hits and recorded eight strikeouts.

Baseball (2-2)
Cheshire won their second straight game 4-2 at Jonathan Law. Sophomore Dan Schock and junior Vin Sansone both went two-for-three with a run scored. Senior Jordan Kubilus (three strikeouts) gave up seven hits and two walks in a complete game.
CHS hosts Branford on Friday at 4 p.m.
Boys' Volleyball (2-0)
Cheshire beat Shelton 3-1 (25-10, 25-5, 23-25, 25-5) in the home opener. Seniors led the way. Ray Brumleve (39 assists) had a personal-best nine aces, including the first 16 points of the second game. Nate Howard added 16 kills and two blocks. Ryan Cuppernull supplied nine kills. James Planinshek hit five kills for the second straight match.

Boys' Tennis (2-1)
Each of the three matches have been decided by a point. Cheshire beat Fairfield Prep this time. Seniors Tyler Hajjar (6-3, 6-3) and Drew Henderson (7-5, 6-1) and junior Bryan Adams (6-2, 6-2) are undefeated. Tanner Barros also won in three sets (6-4, 6-7, 6-4).
Cheshire hosts William Hall on Friday at 4 p.m.
Girls' Tennis (0-3)
The Lady Rams lost 4-3 at Sheehan. Seniors Taylor Strange/Alex Hirt (6-1, 6-0) and juniors Maegan McGee/Anna Toscano (6-2, 6-2) claimed doubles matches. Erica Larson also won 6-4, 6-3 for the first time this year.
CHS hosts Hamden on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
Boys' Golf (1-1 in Housatonic Division)
At the Farms Country Club, the Rams suffered a 164-165 loss against Shelton. For the second time in two matches, junior Eric Dietrich was the medalist with a 37. Sophomores Jake Ecke and Tom Arisco shared 43. Junior Mike Stanton added a 44.
The Rams travel to East Haven's Alling Memorial Golf Course today at 2:30 p.m.
Girls' Golf (1-0)
At the Madison Country Club, Cheshire started with a 199-227 win over host Daniel Hand. Junior Andra Frappier was the medalist at 38. Juniors Emily Larkin and Meg Robles fired 51 and 53, respectively. Classmates Maggie Kulpa (57) and Molly Pritchard (60) made their first starts.
Cheshire hosts today's home opener with Farmington at the Southington Country Club. Start time is 2:45 p.m.
