One Dead After Car Hits Tree

February 28, 2012 by Josh Morgan

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene on Tuesday afternoon following a single car accident at the intersection of Cornwall Avenue and Oak Avenue.
The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. today, Feb. 28. Police closed the area down while they worked on a reconstruction of the accident.
According to sources, it initially appears that a medical condition, not the crash itself, is what killed the woman, whose identity police have not yet released.
Some witnesses to the crash state that they saw the vehicle, an SUV, traveling along Oak Avenue towards the intersection. The vehicle did not stop, however, barreled through the intersection, and crashed into a large pine tree in a residential yard. Police were busy interviewing those who witnessed the crash and using technology to recreate the accident scene as of 4 p.m.
The accident also resulted in a small fire in the vehicle.
Cheshire firefighters used the jaws of life to cut the doors and roof off the vehicle, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Yellow police caution tape surrounded the area and a red tarp was placed over the vehicle.
