A local man was arrested over the weekend and charged with kidnapping and sexual assault after being found hiding in the basement of a Seymour home..
Mark Altieri, 41, was identified by two Cheshire women, one of whom was sexually assaulted. The women, ages 42, and 18, told police that Altieri held them against their will at knife point, and threatened to kill them. Police sources state that Altieri knew the two women, but would not elaborate on the nature of the relationships.
A search for Altieri ensued, and he was found hiding in the basement closet of a home in Seymour. A woman at the home, Joan Detullio, 63, initially told police that she did not know where Altieri was. She was charged with criminal interference by Seymour police.
Altieri was charged with first degree sexual assault, first degree kidnapping, second degree threatening and third degree assault. He is being held by Cheshire Police on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court today, January 30.
