Avid Reader? Think About Joining One Of The Library's New Book Clubs

January 15, 2012 by Special To The ...

Are you interested in murder mysteries? How about the paranormal?
If these two topics make up the bulk of your home library, you might want to check out two new book clubs, sponsored through the Cheshire Public Library:

Murder By the Book: Mystery Book Club.

Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m.
January 31 — Maltese Falcon, Dashiell Hammett
February 21 — Snowman, Jo Nesbot
March 27 — Last Child, John Hart
April 24 — Daughter of Time, Josephine Tey

This month's book is The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett.
A treasure worth killing for. Sam Spade, a slightly shopworn private eye with his own solitary code of ethics. A perfumed grafter named Joel Cairo, a fat man name Gutman, and Brigid O’Shaughnessy, a beautiful and treacherous woman whose loyalties shift at the drop of a dime. These are the ingredients of Dashiell Hammett’s coolly glittering gem of detective fiction, a novel that has haunted three generations of readers.

After Twilight: Paranormal Book Club

Monday evenings at 7 p.m.
February 6 — Blood and Chocolate, Annette Curtis Klause
March 5 — Abraham Lincoln: Vampyre Hunter, Seth Grahame-Smith
April 2 — World War Z, Max Brooks

Register online at www.cheshirelibrary.org or call the library at (203) 272-2245.
