Students at Cheshire High School will be dismissed at 10:45 a.m. after a water main break occurred near the school.
According to Vincent Masciana, director of Management Service for the Cheshire School District, one of the mains that supplies water to the south side of Cheshire High School ruptured overnight and was found at 6 a.m. this morning. There was some runoff detected in a nearby parking lot but no water was released into the building itself. The kitchen and almost all bathrooms in the school have no running water at present, which prompted the decision to close early.
Masciana stated that repairs to the main are expected to be completed by the end of today and the expectation is that classes will resume once again tomorrow, Jan. 5, at normal time.
