Suspicious Package At Library Determined To Be Donated Books

December 28, 2011 by John Rook

It's likely that someone thought they were doing a good deed this morning, leaving a bag full of books at the Cheshire Public Library.
Instead, they set off a firestorm of activity.
According to police, the department received a call this morning about a suspicious looking bag outside of the library. Officers immediately responded, shut down the library, and secured the area. State police were called in to help in the investigation and a device was used to determine the exact contents of the bag.
In the end, it turned out simply to be books, evidently left as a donation to the facility.
Library officials were quick to point out that all donations should be made while the library is open. Leaving items on the steps or property of the library while it is closed could be deemed as illegal dumping.
