Preview Of This Week's Cheshire Herald

November 10, 2011 by John Rook

If you haven't picked up a copy of The Cheshire Herald yet this morning, here is what you're missing:

*Election Day 2011 has come and gone and the results are in. Find out who won, who lost and get all of the vote tallies from each district.

*The voters rejected the costly request to make $30 million in improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Hear what supporters are saying about the vote, and who they blame for the referendum question's defeat.

*The power is back on and the Autumn Nor'easter is in the town's rearview mirror. Now, the hard part begins. Learn how the Town plans to react to what officials are calling the most expensive storm in Cheshire's history.

*If you're planning on going anywhere on West Main Street this weekend, you'll want to check out the front page of this week's paper. We have a story detailing how the area will be closed by the state, as workers from the Department of Transportation install a new culvert under the road. Find out what the detours in the area will look like and how customers can still access businesses on West Main, which will remain open.

*Don't forget to check out our editorial this week, where we lament the fact that many people chose to stay home this election, and our weekly edition of The Editor's Notebook, which makes the case that Gov. Dannel Malloy didn't distinguish himself during the latest storm-related crisis.

*As always, check out our Sports, Schools, and Around Town sections of the paper to see what's happening in the community.

(Don't forget, The Cheshire Herald is available electronically. You can read us on your phone or iPad. Simply go to the front page of this website and click on the E-Edition link for more information and signup instructions.)
